The class will address two specific and interrelated areas, namely the training cycle and facilitator effectiveness. Topics for discussion include the four phases of the training cycle. Additional content will include planning, identifying the need or reason for the training, content, and measuring outcomes. Facilitators will use their skills to create a leadership training for youth. According to Gould and Voelker (2012), “Leadership is one such life skill that may be more important to develop in today’s youth than at any other time in our history.” The second topic for consideration is trainer/facilitator effectiveness. Studies suggest the effectiveness of the trainer is often overlooked.
