The class will focus on learning theory, learning concepts, and processes. A role of Facilitators is to be aware of learning processes and approaches. Learning is a dynamic process, and not everyone learns the same way. There are many challenges and barriers to active learning. There is a difference between teaching and learning, and given the dichotomous relationship between the two, we must consider the nature, content, teaching style, and quality of instruction. Awareness of learning approaches is essential to the creation of intentional strategies for reaching, teaching, engaging and developing youth and young adults. Facilitators will explore styles and approaches that include transformative and double loop learning and examine the benefits and challenges associated with each.
